What insufficient_amount means in Mercado Pago
Payment status: rejected
Short answer
The payment was rejected for insufficient amounts. The documentation does not explain further; for a card with too little balance it lists a different code, cc_rejected_insufficient_amount.
If you are the buyer
Pay with another payment method.
If you are the seller
Offer the buyer another payment method.
If you are the developer
General engineering advice (not from Mercado Pago's documentation): Do not assume what "insufficient" refers to. Show a neutral message and let the buyer choose another payment method.

The meaning comes from the Mercado Pago developer documentation, verified on 2026-11-04. Buyer and seller steps follow from it; developer notes are general engineering practice, not Mercado Pago documentation.
